Whatsapp makes new privacy control changes

whatsapp - Lagospost.ng

WhatsApp is giving its users control over who can view data about them. This move is to protect people from unauthorized third-party apps.

You may notice that the online status of businesses or contacts you are trying to connect with are not visible, it’s because of the new privacy control by WhatsApp.

The changes will make you unable to view the online status of accounts you have not chatted with or details of when they were last seen and vice versa.

WhatsApp revealed the changes was “to improve the privacy and security of our users, we’re making it harder for people you don’t know and haven’t chatted with from seeing your last seen and online presence on WhatsApp.”

WhatsApp added that “this will not change anything between you and your friends, family, and businesses who you know or have previously messaged.”

It might seem like a small change, but it’s just one of a growing number of privacy and security options that WhatsApp users have access to, as well as helping to close a security loophole that some third-party applications were exploiting.

There are a number of apps available for download that can be used to track someone’s online activity – or at least they could be used for this purpose before WhatsApp made its changes. For anyone concerned about their privacy, but specifically, anyone who has endured cyberstalking, these updates are welcome news.
