On Tuesday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) filed a lawsuit against former aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, at the Special Offences Court in Ikeja, Lagos State over his alleged procurement of a “fabricated” medical report.
According to reports, the controversial ex-minister and new member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was taken before Justice O.O Abike-Fadipe by EFCC operatives for possible arraignment around 9 am.
He is currently in the courtroom as of press time.
According to the EFCC, Fani-Kayode procured a fake medical report for himself from Dr Ogieva Oziegbe, which he presented before the Federal High Court in his ongoing trial.
Fani Kayode, who is facing a money-laundering trial, was arrested earlier this month by the EFCC for questioning over alleged forgery, he, however, claimed that he was not arrested but re-invited by the anti-graft agency
He was led to a court proceeding at a Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, where Justice Mohammed Aikawa adjourned the case till January 24, 2022.
