The Turkish giants defeated Liverpool 1-0 at Rams Park in Istanbul on March 10, 2026, with Osimhen providing the assist for Mario Lemina’s early goal in the seventh minute.
According to TRT Spor, Galatasaray supporters unveiled a banner dedicated to Osimhen’s late mother and performed a choreography in his honour.
The striker was visibly emotional and in tears, while head coach Okan Buruk admitted he was touched by the display.
“I had goosebumps as well. We saw the tears in Osimhen’s eyes. Galatasaray is a team of ‘feeling,’ and it always reflects this to its players,” Buruk said via Forza Cimbom.
He praised the fans for their consistent support, even during difficult moments, such as the recent loss to Konyaspor in the league.
“There was a truly beautiful choreography today. First of all, I want to thank those who prepared it. They always support us, they are with us even on our bad days. I think it was a well-deserved choreography for Osimhen,” he added.
Buruk explained that the fans’ energy translated into performance on the pitch, motivating players throughout the match.
“We tried to reciprocate that feeling by pressing them, attacking and defending together. That was very important and valuable to us,” he said.
Galatasaray’s next matches include a home Istanbul derby against Istanbul Basaksehir before travelling to Anfield for the second leg.
However, fans will be banned from the away trip following a crowd disturbance against Juventus, a decision Buruk hopes UEFA will reconsider.
Earlier, Osimhen expressed gratitude to Galatasaray supporters for the banner, highlighting his affection for the club since joining.

“I am deeply touched by the gesture. From the first day I wore this jersey, I have felt the love of the fans, and this means so much to me,” Osimhen said.
