
The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba has appointed Tunji Disu (a deputy commissioner of the police, department of operations, Abuja) as the new Head of Police Intelligence Response in replacement of Abba Kyari. over Hushpuppi saga.
The Nigerian Police said that Mr. Kyari’s suspension was to allow the commission to run an independent investigation into the charges against the former IRS boss to have been an ally to Ramon Abass (popularly known as Hushpuppi) who the United States government have arrested on fraud allegations.
In a statement released on Monday, the police spokesman, Frank Mba revealed that DCP Tunji Disu’s appointment was to be with immediate effect and that the IG charges him to demonstrate his “professional competence in his leadership of the unit” while assuring the citizens that “the IRT will remain focused in the discharge of its duties in line with national statutes and international best practices.”
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Disu was the deputy commissioner of police and had served as the Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Lagos State. He also served as the Deputy Head of Unit at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Rivers State, and was a former Commander of the Nigeria Police Contingent to the African Union (AU) Peace Keeping Mission in Darfur, Sudan.
DCP Tunji Disu holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from the Lagos State University (LASU) and a master’s degree in public administration from the Adekunle Ajasin University, Ondo State.
