Speaker of the Lagos House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa and other loyalists of the former Lagos state governor and presidential aspirant Bola Ahmed Tinubu have journeyed to Mecca to pray for the success of the APC national leader’s presidential bid.

In a statement released by Eromosele Ebhomele, his press secretary, Obasa said: “We have come to seek the favour of Allah and his blessings for Asiwaju in the coming election. We are not testing Allah’s will and power but soliciting for his blessings, support and anointing.”

It disclosed that the prayer session scheduled to be held in Mecca on Thursday would be attended by notable Islamic scholars and political leaders from Nigeria.

Tagged ‘Special Tawaf for Asiwaju’, Obasa said the session will commence by 12:00 p.m. and will be conducted around Kaabah at the “centre of Islam’s most important mosque, the Masjid al-Haram in Mecca, Saudi Arabia,” and “participants are to wear the ihram attire and congregate at the King Abdulaziz Gate.”

Obasa stressed that he and the other loyalists “are doing this in support of Asiwaju’s” presidential ambition.

“Having consulted widely and across the country, we strongly believe that every other thing required for the success of the election and victory for Asiwaju are in the hand of Almighty Allah.”

This trip to the holy land follows the solicitation of funds from Tinubu’s campaign group, who had called on friends of the former Lagos governor on Tuesday to donate money to buy the APC presidential nomination form valued at N100 million.
