On Saturday, millions of MTN subscribers experienced downtime on the network as calls could not be made neither were they able to surf the internet nor stream videos online.

The downtime was witnessed across the country as subscribers complained about it on social media, as they were obviously using other service providers’ networks.

However, MTN has apologised for the downtime in a blog post which reads:

“Some of our customers are having difficulty connecting the network today. We are looking into this and are truly sorry for any inconveniences caused.”

The telecommunications giant recently celebrated 20 years of premiering the telecommunications revolution in Nigeria on August 8 and has a market penetration of 39 per cent.
