Manchester United will now face Atletico Madrid, this will see Ronaldo face Diego Simeoni’s side in February.
Real Madrid against Paris Saint-Germain will see the reunion of Sergio Ramos against his former club.
UEFA had announced the earlier draw null and void after a mishap regarding Atletico Madrid’s position in the draw, the club lodged a formal request to UEFA for a redraw, according to reports that emerged since the original draw was made.
Manchester United was oddly missing from Atletico Madrid’s pot of potential opponents despite the pot containing the five balls representing five possible opponents.
It was reported shortly after that discussions were taking place within UEFA over the possibility of a redraw, after which it was confirmed that the Round of 16 draw will indeed be re-done due to a technical problem with the software of an external service provider.
