Respite came the way of some traffic offenders in Lagos State on Wednesday when Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu made an unscheduled visit to the Lagos State Environment holding facility and Special Offences Enforcement Unit (Task Force) in Alausa.

Sanwo-Olu visited the Task Force’s office to assess the security outfit’s operational activities.

However, the sight of crowds of people in front of the facility caught the attention of the Governor.

On closer inspection, they were, in fact, traffic offenders awaiting arraignment in mobile court.

Upon entering the Task Force’s grounds, the offenders surged toward the Governor’s convoy. They begged Sanwo-Olu to intervene in their cases.

The Governor spent time listening to the offenders. The defendants all admitted to committing the offences for which their vehicles were seized and pleaded for clemency to the Governor.

In response, Sanwo-Olu directed members of the Taskforce to submit a list of all vehicles seized in the last two weeks for traffic offences, granting reductions in fines.
