In commemoration of the 2022 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD), President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration has ordered that the roads leading to Arcade, Phase I, II and III of the Federal Secretariat complexes and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja be closed.
Every January 15, Nigeria observes the AFRD in honour of its fallen heroes in the armed forces during various wars and national assignments.
The head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Folasade Yemi-Esan made this announcement in a statement issued on Friday by AbudulGaniyu Aminu, a director of communications at the HOCSF.
“The Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, is pleased to inform ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) and indeed the general public of the closure of access roads to the Arcade, Federal Secretariat Complex and environs on Friday by 2:00 p.m prompt,” said the statement.
It added, “This is in view of the upcoming activities marking the 2022 celebration of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day set aside to honour our fallen heroes.”
The event will feature the wreath-laying ceremony by Mr Buhari, top government officials, and members of the diplomatic corps on Saturday.
