The General Manager, Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA), Tpl. Kehinde Osinaike commended the Governor for releasing 20 vehicles to the Federal Road Safety Agency.
Announcing the commendation during the reception of the vehicles in Ikeja, Osinaike said that the gesture was a manifestation of the Governor’s commitment and determination to support LASPPPA in fulfilling the Governor’s mandate of sustaining physical development in Lagos.
According to him, the vehicles will enhance monitoring, enforcement and other functions of the Authority and ensure the extension of Physical Planning laws to the grassroots to correct the haphazard development common to rural areas.
In recent times, the Department has dramatically improved turnaround times to process planning permits, attracted more property owners to apply for Physical Planning Permits, developed awareness campaigns to develop good relationships with stakeholders, and instituted human capacity building programmes, among others.
Reiterating that the strategies were all aimed at repositioning LASPPPA for better service delivery, Osinaike said he was delighted with the progress made so far through implementing the initiatives and reforms.
He also explained that the procurement of the new vehicles would enhance the Authority’s ability to regulate physical developments for the benefit of the people of Lagos State as a whole.
Tpl. Osinaike further disclosed that the Authority had recently increased the number of her District Offices from 30 to 40, saying, “The effort is geared towards taking Physical Planning to the grassroots, and the procurement of the vehicles will enhance this drive”.
While assuring that the vehicles will be deployed for the appropriate purpose, Osinaike thanked the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Tpl (Dr) Idris Salako; the Special Adviser to the Governor on Urban Development, Mr Ganiu Ayuba and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Lands and Physical Planning, Tpl (Dr.) Babajide Babatunde for their contribution towards the release of the vehicles.
