The Lagos State Government (LASG) has started the third batch of training for Unified Local Government Service staff on Performance Management Fundamentals.
The course, which was organized by the Office of Local Government Establishments, Training, and Pensions, focused on developing effective communication skills, memo writing, and approved channels of communication in the public sector.
Mrs Kikelomo Bolarinwa, Permanent Secretary, Local Government Establishment, Workshop and Pensions Office, charged participants during the training to be effective and provide value in their service delivery at their respective job posts.
In her words: “Achieving organisational objectives requires effective communication and the essence of this training is to build your capacity and bridge the gaps that have been identified in terms of memo writing and effective communication.
“I want to assure you that we have the best hands, so be open to learning because you will be greatly enriched and become impactful in your various Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas”.
One of the workshop facilitators, Mrs Folashade Coker, expressed confidence that the training will reinforce knowledge, raise confidence, improve abilities, and produce new ideas.
“Being able to communicate effectively is perhaps the most important of all life skills because it improves the ability to collaborate with one another”, she said.
