Following the request by the family through their lawyer Falana Chambers, the Lagos State Chief coroner has responded with a date for a meeting. The response to the letter entitled: “Re: Request for Inquest into the Tragic Death of Sylvester Oromoni Killed at Dowen College, Lekki, Lagos State” reads:

“Your letter dated 6th December 2021 in respect of the above subject matter refers. I have the directive of the Chief Coroner of Lagos State, Honourable Justice M. A. Dada to act on your request and you are hereby invited to a preliminary meeting scheduled to hold as follows Wednesday, 15th December 2021.”

In a letter dated December 7, 2021, and addressed to Falana and Falana Chambers, Mikail Olukayode Kadiri, Coroner, Epe District, fixed the location of the meeting at Magistrate Court No. 4, Chambers of the Coroner, Epe District, Combined High Court and Magistrate Court of Lagos State, Epe.

Furthermore, the Lagos State Command of the police also confirmed that it will be visiting Delta State for a post mortem of Master Oromoni’s body to ascertain the cause of the death.

In a statement, the Lagos and Delta States police authorities said the results of the investigation would be of great interest to them in unravelling the mystery behind the death. This comes after the deceased’s parents hired the firm of Femi Falana, a human rights advocate and lawyer, to pursue their case.

Sylvester’s untimely death was revealed last week by his cousin Perrison Oromoni on social media. He described how Sylvester met his untimely death and named his cousin’s alleged killers.
