COVID-19: Nigeria records 423 new cases, Lagos tops charts

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on Thursday reported 423 new COVID-19 cases across 16 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The NCDC disclosed this on its official Facebook page.

According to the agency’s data, Lagos recorded the highest figures for new infections for the day with 120 cases.

This was followed by Rivers with 118 reported cases of the virus then Anambra – 38, FCT – 32, Gombe – 31, Kaduna – 21, Oyo – 14, Benue – 11, Cross River – 10, Kwara – 9, Borno – 5, Kano – 5, Bauchi – 3, Jigawa – 3 while Abia, Ogun, and Sokoto recorded a single case each.

The reported 423 new infections have brought the total number of confirmed cases to 250,009 while 221,203 people have recovered and have been discharged.

However, with no additional fatalities reported, the death toll from the virus stands at 3,092.

The agency added that a multi-sectoral National Emergency Operations Centre, activated at Level 2, had continued to coordinate the national response activities.
