The justice vow was made on Thursday by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs Esther Onyekesi, during an interaction with journalists in Awka.

Onyekesi confirmed that the teenage victim, whose identity is being withheld, is currently two months pregnant according to a medical report submitted by a concerned priest who reported the matter to authorities.

She described the incident as deeply troubling, condemning the alleged actions of adults who are meant to protect vulnerable minors but instead exploit them.

According to the commissioner, the ministry is committed to standing by the victim and ensuring her safety while investigations continue.

She added that such acts of sexual exploitation must be stamped out to protect young girls and promote a safer society.

The Anambra teen sexual abuse case justice vow follows reports that the victim was rescued from the abusive environment by a Good Samaritan and brought to the ministry for protection.

The teenager alleged that her guardian repeatedly assaulted her at night, while other men were also involved in the abuse.

Authorities confirmed that police have arrested two suspects so far, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining individuals linked to the case.

The case is currently being handled at the Nawfia Police Station, where investigations are ongoing.

The commissioner assured that the state government will work closely with security agencies to ensure that all perpetrators are brought to justice.
