All that you need to know about the iPhone 14

As technology constantly evolves, great minds are also working hard to possibly find the surest means to either improve upon it or make something slightly new out of it. This is why there will always be expectations from the Apple company, as it continues to push the boundaries in mobile technology and most interestingly, there is no disappointment.

Apparently, Apple Company has indelibly left track records on the world stage with its notable innovations that have advanced the regular usage of computers and mobile devices, hence, becoming the most successful company in the technological sector.

Going further, the pre-order of the iPhone 14 was launched on the 9th of September 2022. Here is all you need to know about the device.

Apple’s new iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max

Apple’s new iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max have a brand-new screen design that is totally different from the conversant notch, a pill-shape design, carved out in the screen that protects the sensor array for Face ID and cameras, with the close sensor now behind the display.

The phones bridge a gap between the two with black pixels. Apple calls this created long pill shape the Dynamic Island, which will become broadened and retracted, depending on what you’re doing on the phone, from music playback to using Face ID, to making payments. It can also disclose other activities like sports scores when you’re in other apps.

The iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max also have fragile bezels but are still 6.1in and 6.7in size and are the first iPhones to support always-on display features that are seen on Android phones for the past few years, granting information access like time, date, and notifications to be peeked at even when the screen is not fully on.

Argumentatively, the iPhone 14 Pro will not have a SIM card tray in the US, this means everyone who gets iPhone 14 will have to set up an eSIM.

Is iPhone 14 available already?

The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max have been launched; however, prices have been available for pre-order since Friday 9th of September 2022 in many regions including the US, UK, France, and Spain, and will ship and fully go on sale on 16 September. In some other regions like Malaysia and Turkey, it will be available from 23 September. But September 16th has been scheduled for its release to the market.

For persons who are picky with colours, the new iPhone comes with a new deep purple colour, as well as silver, gold, and space black.

Also, it is advisable to pre-order directly from Apple.

The features of the iPhone 14

It is the most recent high-end device, with the only models this year to get the new A16 Bionic chipset. Apple says its 6-core CPU is “up to 40% faster than the competition”, without naming any competitors or contrasting it to last year’s A15, it may be implying that the A15 is pretty darn fast already.

The regular iPhone 14 and 14 Plus are closely attached to the A15 found in the iPhone 13 listing, retain the now-classic iPhone notch, and don’t have always-on displays or 120Hz restart rates. This is an obvious indication that Apple is not limited to its productions but is set to promote the Pro models this year.

Also, the always-on display is coming to Pro models only and will accompany the release of iOS 16, whose headline new feature is widgets, and more customisation in general, to the iPhone’s lock screen.

This seems more interesting because Apple is trying to obscure the holes in the display while making them useful and even playful with the software animations around them.

Pertinently, the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max are iPhones with more than a 12Mp main camera, boosting all the way up to a 48Mp main wide-angle lens – a sensor 65% larger than on the iPhone 13 Pro. The latest phones use Apple’s new software smarts called Photonic Engine which is said to help upgrade the optics, even more, better than the iPhone 13 Pro.

There’s also a larger sensor 12Mp ultra-wide lens that is assumed to be able to take in three times more light, it supports macro photography. The telephoto lens is also 12Mp.

Progressively, the A16 chip is needed to take complete edge of the Pro’s camera features, though the developments in low light are supposedly down to the new hardware, which includes a new front-facing camera with an f/1.9 aperture. This camera also has autofocus, one of its kind for an iPhone’s selfie shooter.

It also has a new Action Mode that is meant to focus on what a physical convenient device would do to steady video capture, while the Cinematic Mode on the iPhone 13 can now record in 4K. Incremental upgrades are to what was an already accomplished smartphone camera on the iPhone 13 Pro, but it is actually spectacular to see Apple finally go for a greater megapixel count on its main lens. Nevertheless, your iPhone 12 still takes beautiful shots.

Undoubtedly, the iPhone 13 Pro Max had the best battery life we’d ever seen in a smartphone, with Apple quoting 28 hours of video playback. This is also why the company is only promising one more hour of video on the 14 Pro Max, while it says the regular 14 Pro can swig away for 23 hours.

Basically, The Pro models, along with the regular iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, also gain emergency SOS capabilities over satellite for the very first time. This is to enable people to reach out to emergency services if they are out of cellular or Wi-Fi connections. It also grants access to you to share your location with friends and family in the Find My app. Also on every new iPhone 14 is car crash detection that can call emergency services.

The satellite service will be launched in November and will be free for two years on iPhone 14 models, suggesting it will increase after then. It’s also only the US and Canada that will have access to it, it could prove life-saving and a feature we hope Apple hurries to other markets.

Going further, Apple said the iPhone 14 Pro will feature all-day battery life, longer than the past models. It will also include the latest revealed features discovered in the base iPhone 14, such as Emergency SOS via satellite, a satellite-based system for communication in cellular and Wi-Fi dead zones, and Crash Detection, which allows the device to detect if you have been in a car accident.

Apple categorically made it known that the upcoming iOS 16 will be the functioning system to power Apple’s iPhone 14 line out of the box.
