On June 7, 2019, Ibom Air officially commenced operations when a Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft marked ‘Ibom Air’ took off from Uyo to Lagos. Just a little over two years after, the brand has quickly established itself in the psyche of the domestic flying public.

Nigeria’s first state-owned airline has become the gamechanger in the aviation sector with nearly 6,000 passengers within the said period. Here are five reasons you should patronise Ibom Air the next time you fly.

1 – Best domestic airline

In March, Ibom Air won the prestigious award as the Airline of the Year at the Abuja Jabamah, the Wonders of Nigeria Tourism Expo. The airline emerged tops in the sector having performed exceptionally well in the year 2020 despite the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic.

2 – Reliability

In a sector renowned for massive dissatisfaction and failure, Ibom Air stands tall. The airline prides itself as the most trusted in the industry and rightly so. In 2019, Ibom Air operated a total of 2,512 flights with a remarkable 97% schedule reliability and 98% on-time performance (OTP). Despite increased patronage last year with 4,410 flights, it retained its schedule reliability and on-time performance.

3 – Excellence

Excellence, safety, integrity, passion and innovation are part of its core values. Ibom Air has set the standard as the airline of choice for passengers in Nigeria, West Africa and beyond, focusing on service excellence, hospitality and innovation, plus our infusion of style and grace! “Every time you fly with us, our goal is to provide you and every one of our passengers with a safe, consistent, reliable, comfortable and enjoyable flying experience. We take pride in our airline and will always act in the best interest of our customers, ” its mission statement said.

4 – Ibom Flyer

Ibom Flyer is Ibom Air’s Customer Loyalty Program designed to reward frequent flyers of Ibom Air. Membership of the program provides access to exclusive benefits designed to make travel more rewarding and enjoyable for our customers. With Ibom Flyer, members experience a unique recognition, rewards and differentiated service level across three membership tiers: Green, Orange and Top.

5 – Increased destinations and routes

According to its Chief Operating Officer, George Uriesi, the airline will create four or five new domestic destinations before the end of 2021to improve connectivity within the country. According to him, the move will bring the airline route network to nine domestic destinations and 15 routes from the current five destinations and seven routes. He said “expanding our route footprint in 2021 is critical to Ibom Air’s sustainable business success. We will also venture ’slowly’ into the region in the second half of 2021.”
