To commemorate this year’s World Food Day (WFD) themed: “Our actions are our future – Better production, better nutrition, a better environment and a better life,” Crown Flour Mill (CFM) Limited, has donated food packs to SOS Children’s Villages in Isolo, Lagos on Saturday 16 October 2021.
According to the lead miller, the visit and donation to the children’s village was part of the mill’s activities on the occasion of World Food Day 2021 and part of the company’s corporate social commitment to give something back to its community, especially to those in need of protection.
CFM management and staff were at the centre to identify with the independent, non-governmental and non-profit international development organization known for its humanitarian efforts and its help to children in need.
In addition, the CFM also organized a barbecue night for more than 480 students from Biyamusu, Ajingi, Kano primary school, and donated food and toiletries to the rooms of the Nasarawa Children’s Home, an orphanage also in Kano.
Damilola Adeniyi, Corporate Affairs Manager for Olam Nigeria, said during the visit to the SOS Children’s Villages that the company is committed to creating a better life in its markets and influencing the lives of the communities in which it operates.
“No one, most of all children, deserves to suffer hunger or lack access to good food. Therefore, we are taking actions that align with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of achieving zero hunger in the world in our business operations, which lay emphasis on food safety, fortification, security and corporate social investments (CSI) such as this,” Adeniyi said.
