Real Madrid star Rodrygo has revealed why he celebrated his goal like Cristiano Ronaldo’s popular goal celebration against Chelsea.

Real Madrid defeated Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday night and 4-0 on aggregate, with the Brazilian forward scoring both goals.

The 22-year-old who usually celebrates with a knee slide opted to jump high to hit Ronaldo’s ‘Siuuuu’ celebration after scoring the opener.

Rodrygo has now opened up on why he did that in West London.

He said: ‘When I scored, my immediate reaction was to think about doing one of those knee slides.

‘But I have got a slightly tender knee when I flex. So it popped into my mind to copy my idol Cristiano and copy what he does.

‘It’s such a pleasure to be at this great club, the best in the world.

‘(Goalkeeper Thibaut) Courtois saved us when we weren’t initially finishing our chances, and now we’ll see whether it’s (Manchester) City or Bayern we face next.’

The Spanish giant cruised into the UCL semi-final on a 4–0 aggregate, all thanks to Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio’s goals in the first leg at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Meanwhile, in Italy, AC Milan defeated Napoli on a 2-1 aggregate after winning 1-0 in the first leg in Milan

Real will face either Bayern Munich or Manchester City, who will play on Wednesday evening, in a heavyweight semi-final.
