The National Assembly Elections Petition Tribunal has nullified the election victory of Seyi Sowunmi, the Labour Party candidate representing Ojo Federal Constituency of Lagos State.
The tribunal on Thursday awarded the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate Honourable Lanre Ogunyemi, as the winner of the election after he challenged the Labour Party candidates’s victory as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
A three-man panel of the tribunal sacked Sowunmi from the position and gave victory to Ogunyemi, the APC candidate and former Secretary of the Lagos State APC.
The members of the panel – Justice Ashu A. Ewah, Chairman; Justice Abdullahi A. Ozegya; and Justice M. A. Sambo held that the candidate of the Labour Party was not qualified to contest the elections.
