Though details surrounding the accident remain unclear, Sahara Reporters, which broke the news, describes the loss as deeply heartbreaking, citing family sources.
The exact time, location, and circumstances of the fatal incident have not been confirmed, and the family has yet to issue an official statement.
Efforts by TheNiche to contact Disu, who also served as Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, have been unsuccessful.
Disu, who recently took charge of the FCT Police Command, was reportedly deeply affected by the loss.
His son’s tragic passing has led to an outpouring of sympathy from colleagues, friends, and the general public.
On the same day his son passed, Commissioner Disu visited CSP A.A. Sambo, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ushafa Division, who also tragically lost his son.
During the visit, Disu expressed sincere condolences, offering both emotional support and assurances of the Command’s continued assistance to CSP Sambo’s family.
It appears that the fatal car accident occurred after this visit, with no connection to the DPO’s tragedy.
Disu’s career in the police force spans several high-profile roles.
Early in his career, he served as DPO in various locations across Nigeria, including Ago Iwoye in Ogun State, Ikare and Owo in Ondo State, and Elimbu and Elelenwo in Rivers State.
He also held significant leadership roles in the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), anti-kidnapping units, and the State Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Rivers, Ondo, and Oyo states.
From June 2015 to August 2021, Disu served as the commander of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS).
He is also a respected member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and was the former head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) within Nigeria’s police force.
Disu’s leadership in these capacities has contributed significantly to the safety and security efforts in Nigeria.
