Expressing gratitude to the sponsors, Realnews Publisher Maureen Chigbo acknowledged their support in helping the publication continue its commitment to investigative journalism.

Chigbo praised these organisations for their contribution, adding, “Without their support, we would not have sustained our business for over a decade to do what we love best – investigative journalism.”

The 12th Anniversary Lecture will feature Ambassador Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, former Chief of Staff to former President Muhammadu Buhari, as the keynote speaker.

Dr. Karim El Aynaoui, Executive President of Policy Center for the New South in Morocco, will deliver additional remarks, while Ms. Beatrice Eyong, UN Women’s Country Chair, will chair the event.

The lecture will include a special guest discussion featuring Mrs Hadiza Bala Usman and Engr. Shehu Tijjani, Managing Director of Amal Technology Ltd.

Highlighting the Realnews legacy, Chigbo noted that the anniversary series serves as a platform to celebrate some of society’s best minds, tapping into their insights for national development.

Realnews has hosted notable past lecturers such as Edwin W. Harris Jr., GIABA Director General, on issues of illicit funds flow; Brig.

General Buba Marwa of NDLEA on drug abuse among African youth; and Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Nigerian Government, on Nigeria’s COVID-19 experience.

Beyond its lecture series, Realnews magazine has been an essential voice in investigative journalism across Nigeria, with a particular focus on the oil and gas sector, political transitions, and societal challenges.

The online publication’s seasoned journalists adhere to strong ethical standards, striving to keep citizens informed and governments accountable through comprehensive reporting.

Reflecting its commitment to press freedom, Realnews also promotes responsible journalism, aiming to influence decision-makers by presenting unbiased reports that highlight real issues affecting Nigerians.

Chigbo affirmed this commitment, stating, “Our mission is to unearth exclusive stories about real people and challenges, with a vision for government actions that will positively influence society.”

The Realnews team, boasting decades of combined experience, upholds journalism’s role as the Fourth Estate, dedicated to fostering a just society and protecting citizens’ rights.

Their motto, “For God and Humanity,” reflects their dedication to these values.

Following the lecture, Realnews will honour the speakers by inducting them into the Realnews Hall of Fame, an initiative created to recognise contributors to the anniversary series.
