President Bola Tinubu’s government, according to National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, is the most transparent in the nation’s history.
He also stated that security in the country has improved since Tinubu took office on May 29.
“Our country’s leadership understands things a little better. Work more, talk less. In terms of transparency, this government is the most transparent in Nigerian history. To be honest, we will give it our all.”
While speaking about the country’s security condition, Ribadu also revealed that the present administration inherited difficult times in terms of security.
He made the remarks on Thursday at the current 19th Annual Nigerian Editors Conference in Uyo, which had the topic “Stimulating Economic Growth, Technological Advancement: Role of the Media.”
Ribadu urged Nigerians to be patient while the Tinubu-led administration works to address the country’s security concerns.
“We are all in this together. As a national security adviser, you want to hear about national security. We have been there about five months, a few days into the office. We have given Nigeria to President Bola Tinubu to manage it for us.
“In the last five months, I have been there by his side and have seen how things were and how things were when we started and hopefully, the direction we are going is okay,” stated the nation’s chief security adviser.
He stressed, “We inherited a tough period” and appealed “for patience and understanding,” as he admitted that “it’s tough times and that is the reality.”
“We’re not judging anyone, but that’s the truth. Those in control must speak the truth, and say it like it is, and things will hopefully improve for you.
“As I already stated, my visit is to identify with you. also appeal to you for assistance. We are going through a difficult period. It will need all of us working together. We’re all in this thing together. It is not going to last long. It’s only a matter of time. It will improve”, Ribadu noted.
He stated that in the Niger Delta, “at the time we took over, the production of crude oil was 1.1 million barrels per day.
“Today, crude oil production is over 1.7 mbd. We have witnessed three weeks without any incident of security challenges in the Niger Delta. This is the first time since 1993, but we don’t talk.”
In the southeast, where residents continue to make reports of continuous violent killings, especially in Nanka and other parts of Anambra, Ribadu claimed that “in the last two months, not a single person had been killed through violent attacks.”
“When we took over last year, we had 46 police stations attacked. Today, we don’t have a single one, We don’t talk,” he concluded.
