Ahead of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu swore in eight new Permanent Secretaries.
The exercise, according to the preamble provided by the Presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, was to “fill existing and impending vacancies of some states and geo-political zones in the top administrative cadre of the Civil Service of the Federation.”
According to him, the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation embarked on a diligent selection process comprising a written examination, an ICT proficiency test and an interactive session with a broad spectrum of stakeholders.
“At the end of this exercise, eight directors in the Federal Civil Service who scaled the hurdles were appointed as Permanent Secretaries.
This afternoon, your Excellency, the Permanent Secretary-designates are here to take their oaths of office,” he said.
Those sworn in were Emanso Okop Imobong (Akwa Ibom); Obi Emeka Vitalis, (Anambra), Mahmood Fatima, (Bauchi) and Danjuma Mohammed Sanusi, (Jigawa).
Others were Olusanya Olubunmi, (Ondo), Dr. Keshinro Maryam Ismaila, (Zamfara), Akujobi Chinyere Ijeoma (South-East) and Isokpunwu Christopher Osaruwanmwen (South-South).
Ngelale said the President anticipated that the new Federal Permanent Secretaries would exercise absolute dedication, diligence, and fidelity to the nation in the discharge of their functions and ensure optimum service delivery to the Nigerian people.
Meanwhile, the cabinet members have congratulated President Tinubu on his re-election as the Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SVF), Sen. George Akume, said the West African regional leaders have seen in the President a committed leader working for the growth and development of the country and Africa as a whole and decided to re-elect him.
He said, “Africa has seen a committed leader and once again saw the need to re-appoint the president as their leader.
“Cabinet members congratulate you, Mr President and we believe that you will continue to do your best. You have our support and loyalty is one hundred per cent.”
