The Lagos Commodities and Futures Exchange (LCFE) has added three non-executive directors to its board of directors, providing proven industry experience to strengthen the Exchange’s technical knowledge and corporate governance.

Mr Haruna Jalo-Waziri, Managing Director of Central Securities Clearing System Plc, Mrs Afolake Lawal, Founder and Managing Partner of Imperial Law Office, and Mr John Osode, a seasoned Chartered Accountant, are the three new directors.

Lawal’s primary area of expertise is corporate law, with a particular emphasis on corporate governance, commercial law practice, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, and corporate finance. She has over 25 years of expertise consulting and expanding multinational firms of varying sizes and complexity.

Lawal is a Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)-licensed adviser as well as a member of the Institute of Directors, Nigerian Bar Association, Women Corporate Directors (Nigeria Chapter), Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, and the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN), among other organizations. She is a Supreme Court of Nigeria Barrister and Solicitor, as well as a Harvard Business School alumna. She also has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, a Bachelor of Laws degree from Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos, and an MSc. in Corporate Governance and Finance from Liverpool John Moores University in the United Kingdom.

Jalo-Waziri is a frontline Economist, Chartered Stockbroker, and Business Administrator with nearly three decades of hands-on expertise in investment banking, securities dealing, pension funds and conventional asset management, business growth, and regulation. He is an award-winning executive with a proven track record of delivering transformational change in organizations. Jalo-Waziri previously served as Executive Director, Capital Markets at the Nigerian Stock Exchange, where he was primarily responsible for deepening the market through products, innovation, and new listings. He facilitated the collaboration between the NSE and the London Stock Exchange, which resulted in multiple dual listings on these bourses. Jalo-Waziri previously worked as Managing Director of both UBA Stockbrokers Limited and UBA Asset Management Limited, where he helped the companies rise to the top of their respective industries.

He founded Kakawa Discount House Limited (now FBN Merchant Bank asset )’s management division and previously worked for the Securities and Exchange Commission. Mr Jalo-Waziri is a Director on the Board of Special Olympics Nigeria and a member of the Board of NG Clearing Limited. He attended the famed Lagos Business School, the Venture Capital Institute of America, the University of Maiduguri, and Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University.

Osode on the other hand has worked in a variety of jobs after becoming a Certified Public Accountant. He has over 32 years of expertise in the field of financial accounting. Obafemi Awolowo University awarded him his first degree, and he became a Chartered Accountant in 1995. He has worked for various accounting firms and is a founding partner of Tradeways Express International. He serves on the boards of directors of several other companies, where he applies his vast knowledge, skill, and expertise to the growth and profitability of the organizations. Osode is the Chief Finance Officer of KC Gaming Network Ltd, based in Lagos, Nigeria. He is also a skilled farmer, with enormous farmland spread across the country. Mr John Osemedua Osode is a non-executive director (Incoming). Mr Osode, a seasoned Chartered Accountant, has worked in a variety of positions since qualifying as an Accountant. He has over 32 years of expertise in the field of financial accounting.

Obafemi Awolowo University awarded him his first degree, and he became a Chartered Accountant in 1995. Osode is the Chief Finance Officer of KC Gaming Network Ltd, based in Lagos, Nigeria. He is also an experienced farmer with huge farmland spread over Nigeria. er, Nigeria.
