The Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) has announced that former Minister for Power and Steel, Senator Liyel Imoke, will be the keynote speaker at its 2024 annual conference.

The event will be held on October 3, 2024, at the Reverton Hotel in Lokoja, Kogi State, and will focus on the theme: “Nigeria: Tackling Insecurity, Power Deficit, and Transitioning to Digital Economy.”

Senator Imoke, a former governor of Cross River State and Special Adviser to President Olusegun Obasanjo, will lead discussions on critical national issues. Other notable figures joining the event include Retired Lt-General Tukur Buratai, former Chief of Army Staff, and Dr. Aminu Maida, Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), who will serve as guest speakers.

The event is chaired by Nigeria’s former Ambassador to Spain, Yusuf Mamman, and will feature a panel of distinguished speakers, including Professor Rotimi Ajayi of Federal University Lokoja and Ms. Debrah M. Ogazuma, a veteran broadcaster. The 2024 conference is the 8th in GOCOP’s series of events, aimed at promoting credible journalism and insightful dialogue on national development.

In previous years, the conference has featured prominent speakers like Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah and Professor Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

GOCOP was established to ensure that online publishers adhere to the principles of journalism, with over 104 corporate publishers as members, all committed to high standards in the digital age.
