Wife of the Lagos State Governor, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has advised Muslims to be faithful, available and teachable, emulating the teachings of Eid-el-Kabir.

The governor’s wife gave the advice at the Eid-ul-Adha celebration hosted by the First Family at the Lagos House, Ikeja, on Sunday.

“In line with our annual tradition in Lagos State of hosting the Muslim Ummah, dignitaries, and the people generally, we are gathered here today to celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir festival and to specially acknowledge Allah’s benevolence upon the people, our dear state and country,” Mrs Sanwo-Olu said while welcoming the guests.

“As we bask in the euphoria of this celebration, let us be reminded of the obligation on us to be ‘FAT in the Lord’ and also pass this on to our children so much so that they are made to know and appreciate the need to equally be faithful to Allah’s command.

“According to the Quranic text, when Prophet Ibrahim asked if the covenant of leadership was also for his descendants, the Lord responded: ‘My covenant does not embrace the wrongdoers.’

“This surely points in the direction that we all will be rewarded based on our deeds either good or bad.”

She admonished attendees to “also embrace peace, unity, and honesty as we interface with people out there.”

Mrs Sanwo-Olu also urged the Muslim faithful to “remember our leaders and dear country in our prayers, and be faithful to our civic obligations.”
