The sixth edition of Project LOUD Sanwo-Olu ICT and Skill Acquisition Centre’s training programme will equip 3,000 Lagos residents with essential ICT and vocational skills.

Scheduled to commence in January 2025, the two-month, fully-funded initiative aims to transform lives by fostering self-reliance and supporting economic growth.

Prince Kenny Bakare, the programme’s coordinator, announced that all preparations have been completed for the intensive training.

He emphasised that the project aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s vision of empowering every Lagos resident with the skills and confidence needed to succeed in today’s economy.

“Last year’s programme successfully graduated over 1,500 participants. This year, we are doubling our impact to empower 3,000 beneficiaries,” Bakare stated.

Participants will gain proficiency in compulsory skills such as tailoring, shoemaking, tie and dye, digital marketing, and photography.

They can also choose from additional courses, including catering, baking, wig making, facials and massage, microblading, lash extensions, makeup, and gele tying.

The Lagos State Government is sponsoring the programme entirely, ensuring it remains free for all participants.

Graduates will receive certificates, work tools, and access to low-interest loans through the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, enabling them to start businesses immediately after graduation.

Bakare expressed confidence in the programme’s ability to combat unemployment and poverty by fostering entrepreneurship.

“With seed money and tools provided, trainees can start their businesses right away, eliminating the wait for formal employment,” he remarked.

The induction and graduation ceremony is set for 29 January 2025.

Physical registration and screening for pre-registered participants will occur on 15 and 16 January 2025 at 114 Western Avenue, Beside Qua Iboe Church, Barracks Under Bridge, Surulere, Lagos.

Bakare encouraged Lagos residents, particularly the youth, to seize this opportunity to gain in-demand skills and contribute to Lagos’s economic development.

“This initiative transforms lives and builds a brighter future for all Lagosians,” he concluded.
