Lagos Governor Sanwo-Olu urges NIPOST to adopt innovation and technology to enhance services, boost e-commerce, and foster economic growth.
Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) to embrace innovative strategies to address present and future needs.
Speaking on Wednesday during a courtesy visit by NIPOST Postmaster-General and CEO, Ms Tola Odeyemi, at Lagos House Marina, the Governor emphasised the need for transformative leadership and the adoption of technology to improve postal services.
Sanwo-Olu highlighted the importance of challenging outdated practices and adapting to contemporary realities.
He urged NIPOST to become a key player in the digital economy, enhancing the ease of doing business in Lagos and across Nigeria.
“You and your team need to think outside of the box and make a difference. Revamp NIPOST.
Don’t shy away from challenging the status quo. If you want an organisation that meets today’s and future needs, change is a reality,” the Governor advised.
The Governor reiterated Lagos State’s commitment to collaborating with NIPOST to modernise its service centres, improve physical spaces, and enhance e-commerce logistics.
“The e-commerce sector is rapidly expanding, and Lagos is at the forefront of this growth.
Through enhanced postal and logistics services, we aim to support small businesses and individuals participating in e-commerce,” Odeyemi said.
The partnership aims to optimise last-mile delivery, enabling seamless connectivity within Lagos and across Nigeria.
Ms Tola Odeyemi praised the Lagos State Government’s infrastructure and governance achievements, particularly its initiatives that drew global attention during December’s festivities, dubbed “Detty December.”
She acknowledged Lagos as a strategic partner in advancing NIPOST’s goals of driving innovation, boosting economic development, and enhancing public service delivery.
“As the Postmaster-General, my goal is to foster strategic partnerships that will enhance the efficiency and relevance of NIPOST’s services.
I see Lagos as a critical partner in achieving this vision,” Odeyemi remarked.
The collaboration between Lagos State and NIPOST aligns with the government’s vision of leveraging technology to drive economic growth.
By modernising postal and logistics services, the partnership aims to position Lagos as a hub for innovation and e-commerce, ensuring the city continues to thrive as Nigeria’s economic epicentre.
