Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State, has taken his commitment to promoting an inclusive society a notch higher by formally endorsing the Nigeria Skits Industry Awards and consenting for Lagos to host the first edition.
It is in demonstration of the Governor’s belief that society can be built with everyone contributing their quota in different ways.
Governor Sanwo-Olu stated this when the promoter of the NSIA, Hon Bimbo Daramola, visited him at the Lagos House, Marina and presented him with the Awards insignia.
He explained that the creative sector continues to be an important interest to him.
Therefore he provided support for the development of the arts in Lagos, mainly because Lagos is the entertainment capital of Nigeria, providing the launchpad for many successful artists and a city of hope for budding artists.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, who has expressed his love for the emerging Skits Industry, commended the organisers for thinking of recognising the artists who have used skits to display their talents.
The Governor said the creativity, passion, and determination they have shown had made skits a significant feature of the Nigerian entertainment landscape, agreeing that giving the skit makers the recognition they have earned is proper and thoughtful.
