To showcase the rich cultural heritage of all five divisions within Lagos State, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture and Platinum Entertainment Limited have partnered to host the first edition of the “Queen of IBILE Pageant Awards and Reality Show.”
In addition to being a Yoruba word meaning “indigenous child of the soil,” IBILE is also an acronym derived from the five administrative divisions of Lagos State: Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos, and Epe.
The administrative divisions each have a distinctive culture and tradition, but they all contribute to the Center of Excellence, Lagos State.

As an example, Queen of IBILE is a community-based project that aims to dispel the idea that Lagos is a No Man’s Land; and to showcase her as an Indigenous State, with rich cultural values.

Mr. Solomon Bonu, the Special Advisor to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tourism, Arts and Culture, during a press conference and unveiling on Wednesday at Freedom Park, Lagos, said the show would be historic.
Bonu commended Platinum Entertainment Limited’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mrs. Olayinka Edu, who spearheaded the production of the Pageant Reality Show, for initiating a concept in support of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s vision.
He said, “I commend the organiser of this show for this initiative because this type of innovation is what directly falls in line with the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda of Governor Sanwo-Olu led administration.
“This show seeks to redefine the negative parts of the reality shows in Nigeria by promoting our natural, cultural heritage and tourism in Lagos State”.

This pageant awards show and reality competition will engage female youth for eight weeks in the IBILE Mansion in creating a creative project that integrates the past and future while aspiring to become the next Queen of IBILE.
Each housemate will have their perspective on Eko.
They will educate and entertain themselves and the viewers with the history of Lagos, thereby eradicating the tendency to get involved in harmful activities and offering several positive options for a brighter future for the girl child.
