The announcement was made by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during a session in the Senate chamber.
Akpabio expressed optimism about the positive impact of the NCDC, particularly in fostering development at the grassroots level.
“Let me also inform my colleagues that Mr President has also assented to the North-Central Development Commission establishment bill 2024, to bring development to the grassroots,” Akpabio said.
He further congratulated the people of the North-Central region, expressing hopes that the initiative would lead to further development and, importantly, peace within the region.
The establishment of the NCDC is seen as a key step in addressing regional disparities and promoting equitable development in Nigeria.
The law is expected to facilitate targeted interventions in areas such as infrastructure, health, education, and security, contributing to the nation’s broader goals of stability and growth.
