Point of Sales, PoS operators have explained the reasons for increased charges per transaction.
Stephen Adeoye, Public Relations Officer of the Association of Mobile Money and Banks Agents In Nigeria, AMMBAN, Lagos Chapter, disclosed this during an Interview on Channels Television on Friday.
Recall that the Operators recently announced a price increase and unification of charges.
Consequently, an N1,000 and N4,900 deposit with a PoS Operator will now go for N100 as a service charge; On the other hand, a withdrawal of N1,000 and N2,400 will attract a service charge of N100 in contrast with an N100 service charge for N1000-N5000 in the past.
Justifying the increment, Adeoye explained that it was due to increased data, fuel and maintenance costs.
“Like we said, depending on your location, it can be stepped down for customers depending on the circumstances.
“We can still change because we are humans but not that somebody will insist on a particular rate. We also want to avoid those causing the problem- look at the cost of data, fuel and maintenance. Our association also has an anti-money laundry policy; he stated that we are ready to sanitize the market to live up to its purpose”, he stated.
