The Police Service Commission has announced the appointment of new Commissioners of Police for Taraba and Anambra States, urging them to ensure a smooth transition and focus on maintaining law and order
The Police Service Commission (PSC) has made new appointments for the Commissioner of Police (CP) positions in Taraba and Anambra States.
Chukwudi Chris Ariekpere from Abia State has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Police for Taraba State, taking over from CP Peter Oparah.
In Anambra State, Livingstein Ikioye Orutugu from Bayelsa State will succeed Obong Nnache Itam as the new CP.
In a statement by the PSC’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, the Commission’s Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd), urged the newly appointed CPs to swiftly settle into their new roles, ensuring there is no disruption to law and order.
DIG Argungu stressed the importance of dedication and commitment to their duties, emphasising the need to tackle issues like banditry and criminal activities that threaten national security.
He assured that the PSC would continue to monitor the conduct of the new commissioners, supporting them to succeed in their new positions.
The appointments have been communicated to the Inspector General of Police for immediate action and implementation.and focus on maintaining law and order.
