The Lagos State Police Command has been conducting an ongoing investigation into the death of singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known as Mohbad, leading to the interrogation of Ibrahim Owodunni, also known as Primeboy, at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba.
Primeboy was questioned on Tuesday due to a petition from Wunmi, Mohbad’s wife, which included allegations such as defamation of character.
Primeboy, along with Ayobami Fisayo, aka Spending, had been visiting the SCID weekly as part of the conditions set during the investigation. However, during Tuesday’s visit, Primeboy was detained, while Spending was released.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the state Police Public Relations Officer, explained that Primeboy was being monitored as part of his bail conditions from an earlier case related to Mohbad’s death.
Hundeyin noted that the interrogation on Tuesday took longer due to the new petition by Mohbad’s wife. Although Hundeyin mentioned that Primeboy was allowed to leave after questioning. However, sources indicated that he had not exited the police facility as of 8pm.
The investigation into Mohbad’s death, which occurred on September 12 at the age of 27, has been extensive, involving multiple persons of interest.
Primeboy turned himself in to the police on October 6, 2023, after being declared wanted. Mohbad’s father has also sought to introduce additional witnesses in court to help clarify the events leading to his son’s untimely demise.
Mohbad, a former signee of Marlian Music, left the label in February 2022. His death triggered a wide response on social media and led to the arrest of several individuals, including Naira Marley and the controversial Lagos socialite Balogun Eletu, aka Sam Larry.
The Lagos State Police Command established a 13-man special investigation team on September 18, 2023, dedicated to probing the circumstances of Mohbad’s death.
