The Lagos State Police Command says it arrested a 25-year-old man, Toibu Hassan, for illegally possessing a firearm in the Agege area of the state.
This was disclosed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin in an X post.
According to Hundeyin, the suspect was arrested at 6 am on Saturday under the Agege Pen-Cinema bridge by officers from Elere Division.
The police spokesman said the suspect was arrested with one locally made pistol and one expended cartridge.
“Investigation is ongoing,” he said.
Hundeyin said the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, embarked on a fact-finding visit to Agege following complaints of harassment and petty robberies along the rail lines in the area.
Thereafter, the CP ordered a rejig of the security architecture in the area, charging Divisional Police Officers within the vicinity to ensure optimal provision of security.
