Bright Osayi-Samuel, the Fenerbahce defender, is under scrutiny and may face a suspension of up to 10 games due to his involvement in a post-match altercation following the team’s victory at Trabzonspor.
The incident, which took place after the Turkish Super Lig match, saw Osayi-Samuel clashing with home fans who had invaded the pitch. Reports from Turkey suggest the Nigerian international might be charged with violent conduct by the Turkish Football Federation’s (TFF) Disciplinary Committee.
The 26-year-old defender, who is currently representing Nigeria in international matches, plans to claim self-defense in hopes of evading sanctions. The hearing for his case is scheduled for Tuesday, April 2.
Osayi-Samuel’s current commitments include playing for the Super Eagles in their upcoming fixtures against the Black Stars of Ghana and the Eagles of Mali on March 22 and March 26, respectively.
