The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Wednesday confirmed that one person has died in a crash the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

The accident occurred at about 6 am around Sandcrate to Fidiwo and involved a truck conveying humans and animals.

Fifteen male adults were involved in the crash.

The FRSC spokesperson in Ogun, Florence Okpe said, “Seven persons were injured and one person was recorded dead from the lone crash.”

“One vehicle was involved with no registration number on it, a Daf truck conveying both passengers and animals.”

According to Okpe, the lone crash was due to a tyre burst while speeding, which she said led to loss of control.

The FRSC said the injured victims had been taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere for medical attention.

She added that “FRSC operatives are still managing the situation and traffic has been diverted to the other lane to remove the obstruction off the road.”
