Oba Saheed Elegushi of Ikate Kingdom, in Lagos State, has commiserated with the Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University (LASU), Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, over the death of Esther Okubena-Dipeolu, a Professor of Botany.
Elegushi, in a condolence message by his Special Assistant, Public Affairs, Temitope Oyefeso, in Lagos on Wednesday, described the death of Okubena-Dipeolu as shocking and painful.
Okubena-Dipeolu was also the Director of the Lagos State University Directorate of Advancement (LASUDA).
According to the traditional ruler, LASU has been denied the services of one of its outstanding administrators and intellectuals, who demonstrated uncommon passion for the development of the university.
“I was shocked upon receiving the news of the passing of Professor Okubena-Dipeolu; it was a very sad one. I was still in touch with her on projects we intend to do at the university.
“She was passionate about LASU; she was committed to the development of the university and was rallying all stakeholders.
“She intends to do this through the LASUDA, to ensure that we all contribute to the continuous development of the institution,” Oba Elegushi said.
The monarch also consoled the LASU community, family, and friends, praying for strength at this moment of grief and the repose of the soul of the departed.
