President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emphasized that Nigeria must avoid relying on foreign donations to address its economic challenges.
Speaking on Wednesday at a joint session with the National Assembly to mark his first year in office, Tinubu stated that no amount of foreign aid can rescue Nigeria from its current economic difficulties.
“Nobody, no aid, no other institution or personality will help us unless we do it ourselves,” Tinubu declared. “No amount of aid coming from foreign countries or any other nation can do it. They [foreign nations] take care of themselves first. Let us work together to build our nation, not only for us but for generations yet unborn.”
He urged lawmakers to collaborate with the executive branch to improve the nation, stressing the importance of self-reliance and collective effort in overcoming economic hardship.
