The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, on Tuesday arraigned a 29-year-old man, Michael Ishola, before a Federal High Court in Lagos over alleged drug trafficking.
The defendant is facing a two-count charge bordering on illegal dealing in 500g of cannabis and 0.9 litres of codeine.
According to the NDLEA Prosecutor, Ms N.J. Erondu, the defendant committed the offences on May 7 at Mushin area of Lagos.
Erondu said the Agency found 500g of cannabis and 0.9 litres of codeine, which was unlawful in Ishola’s possession.
She said the drugs are classified as psychotropic substances, similar to cocaine and heroin.
The prosecutor said the offences contravene the provisions of Section 11(c) of the NDLEA Act, Cap N30, Laws of the Federation, 2004.
No date has, however, been fixed for arraignment of the suspect.
