The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced that it is conducting investigations into several celebrities suspected of abusing the Nigerian currency, the Naira.
This information was disclosed in a statement released by the EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, on Sunday.
According to Oyewale, the anti-graft agency has invited numerous celebrities for questioning, and many have provided valuable information during the interrogation process.

“At the moment, the Commission is investigating several celebrities involved in Naira abuse. Many of them have made useful statements to the Commission, and many more have been invited by investigators working on the matter,” the statement read.
The EFCC reiterated its commitment to operating without bias, stating, “The EFCC will not relent in its no-sacred-cow mode of operations, and the public should be wary of running afoul of laws against the crime.”
In a related development, popular cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, was recently sentenced to six months imprisonment for abusing the Naira. The sentence was handed down by Justice Abimbola Awogboro without an option of a fine.
