Police on Thursday arraigned two haulage drivers, Abdullahi Yahaya and Abduljabar Jubril, an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, over alleged diversion of N54 million worth of spaghetti.
Yahaya, 48 and Jubril, 39, whose addresses were not mentioned, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp John Iberedem told the court that the duo committed the offences between 17 and 18 of Feb. 2024 within Lagos
According to Iberedem, on February 18, at Shagamu Road, the duo were entrusted to convey a haulage of 4,725 packets of spaghetti valued N54 million.
“They conspired with others at large, diverted and stole the same property belonging to IOS Global Logistic Ltd”, he said.
He explained that the fraudulent act was discovered when goods did not reach the supposed designation as expected.
Iberedem said the offence contravened Sections 287(9) (b) (c) and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs E.Kubeinje, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N3 Million each with two sureties in like sum.
Kubeinje adjourned the matter until June 26, for mention.
