The head coach of Nantes, Antoine Kombouaré has said Moses Simon was disappointed by the untimely exit of the Super Eagles from the AFCON 2021.

Kombouare said he had a chat with Simon whom he permitted to return to France on Friday so as to have some time to heal from the hurt of the AFCON exit.

According to whoscored.com, Simon was the outstanding performer for the Nigerian side with the highest rating of 7.60.

He made more dribbles per match, and contributed a goal and assist as well as was included in CAF’s best eleven of the group stage.

Speaking in the press conference ahead of Nantes clash against Brest in the French Cup on Friday, Kombouaré said: “Regarding Moses Simon, I was able to have him on the phone yesterday (Tuesday).

“He is obviously disappointed with this elimination from the AFCON but also happy to come back with us. I permitted him to come back here Friday morning.”
