L’EQUIPE’S FRANCE RATINGS
Hugo Lloris (8), Jules Kounde (7), Dayot Upamecano (8), Lucas Hernandez (8), N’Golo Kante (7), Adrien Rabiot (8), Kingsley Coman (9), Theo Hernandez (8), Antoine Griezmann (8), Karim Benzema (9), Kylian Mbappe (10).
In addition to Benzema’s two goals, Adrien Rabiot and Antoine Griezmann each scored one to cap an impressive performance at the Parc des Princes and seal France’s place in next year’s 32-nation tournament in Qatar.
As soon as Kylian Mbappe put France ahead with a first-time finish from a Theo Hernandez assist in the sixth minute, the floodgates opened. The home side was always two gears ahead of the Kazakhs.
Mbappe added his second goal in the 12th minute with an easy finish into an empty net after Coman had raced down the right. He completed his hat-trick in the 32nd minute by heading in an inch-perfect cross from Coman.
After the break, the French kept on the attack and soon added two quickfire goals from Benzema, who added a fourth from a Hernandez assist before Mbappe provided the assist.
In the 75th minute, Rabiot headed in Griezmann’s corner before he scored his 42nd goal with a penalty, passing Michel Platini as France’s third-highest goalscorer.
A sublime finish by Mbappe into the bottom-right corner from a fine assist by Moussa Diaby put the cherry on top three minutes before the end.
