The Literacy Promotion Association of Nigeria (LipMAN), formerly known as the Reading Association of Nigeria, RAN, celebrated its 40th anniversary on Tuesday, which put the Lagos State University (LASU), the Best State University in Nigeria, back in the spotlight for another good cause.

On the second day of the week-long conference at the sizable Buba Marwa Convocation Hall on the university’s Ojo Main Campus, Prof. Solomon Olanrewaju Makinde, Dean of the Faculty of Education, received additional recognition as LiPMAN’s new president.

Since its inception, the USAID-funded LiPMAN has been renowned for its persistent promotion of widespread education through the launch of numerous literacy-focused programs with the ultimate goal of obliterating literacy in Nigeria.

The current 18th biennial conference’s theme, which kicked off on Monday, November 21, Critical Literacy For Sustainable Living is on now until Friday, November 25, 2022.

It is interesting that Lagos will be hosting the unique LiPMAN for the first time as a state, while the privileged first lot has gone to the rapidly expanding African Centre of Academic and Research Excellence.
