Eight accident victims have been rescued by officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) at Anthony inward Ojota, Lagos.
In a statement, LASTMA said Popoola Olushola ‘Commander’ (Kilo) who led the rescue team disclosed that the accident involved a broken down truck with a fully loaded mass transit bus with registration number KTU 850 YD.
According to Popoola, a preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the fully loaded commercial mass transit bus was on a top speed and lost control due to brake failure after noticing a broken-down truck ahead of him.
He confirmed that LASTMA officials rescued eight injured accident victims (two males and six females).
“Immediately after the accident happened, LASTMA officials with support from Policemen from Anthony Police Command quickly intervened and rescued eight injured victims among those passengers inside the commercial mass transit bus”.
The rescued accident victims were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention.
General Manager, LASTMA, Mr Bolaji Oreagba, sympathised with injured accident victims and enjoined the motoring public especially commercial bus drivers to be extra careful and ensure that the road is clear ahead and behind before over-taking on expressway across the State.
