The Lagos State Government has unveiled a comprehensive traffic management strategy aimed at ensuring seamless traffic flow along the Lekki-Ajah corridor as the Dangote Refinery commences operations and petrol distribution on Sunday, 15th September 2024.
Hon. Sola Giwa, Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, confirmed that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has been bolstered with modern equipment and well-trained personnel to manage traffic in the affected areas. He urged residents and commuters to remain calm, expressing confidence in the state’s preparedness.
LASTMA, in partnership with key stakeholders, has mobilised tow trucks and emergency response equipment to address potential traffic disruptions swiftly. Medical services are also on standby for any emergencies.
Hon. Giwa highlighted the importance of compliance with traffic regulations, particularly for tanker operators in the Lekki-Ajah axis, to prevent bottlenecks. He warned that the state would strictly enforce these rules to ensure smooth vehicular movement.
Commercial drivers are cautioned to follow traffic laws, avoid picking passengers at undesignated stops, refrain from driving against traffic, and observe road signs.
