LASEMA responds to over 1,000 incidents in Lagos state

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has reported significant activity in its recovery operations.

In the last eight months, LASEMA has responded to a total of 1,094 incidents across Lagos State.

The agency detailed the monthly breakdown of incidents for 2024. In January, LASEMA responded to 141 incidents, followed by 156 in February, 148 in March, 132 in April, 147 in May, 126 in June, and 123 in July. The agency also attended to 121 emergency incidents in August 2024 alone.

Nosa Okunbor, Head of the Public Affairs Unit at LASEMA, stated that the highest number of incidents recorded were road accidents.

A total of 39 incidents were classified as road accidents, which included 36 accidents and 3 breakdowns.

The truck and tanker category followed, with 34 incidents made up of 27 accidents, 1 fallen container, 4 broken-down trucks, and 2 fallen trucks and tankers.

Fire disasters and medical emergencies were tied in third place, with both categories accounting for 19 incidents each.
