In an effort to bring the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) closer to the people, the agency has expanded its consumer rights protection services to the Bariga Local Council Development Area of the state.
During a courtesy visit to the office of the Chairman, Bariga LCDA, Kolade Alabi, the General Manager, LASCOPA, Afolabi Solebo Esq., said the visit was to ensure that citizens in the area have easy access to the Agency.
He emphasized the need of expanding the Agency’s services to every region of the state while reiterating the agency’s commitment to protecting consumers in Lagos State from unsafe and expired items, as well as any type of unfair trade practices.
In his words: “The Agency intends to establish offices in all Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas of the State to bring the Agency closer to the people due to several trade malpractices being perpetrated by dubious-minded individuals, particularly at the grassroots”.
Solebo went further to say that the Agency has been able to assist many categories of aggrieved parties and persons seeking restitution from manufacturers/sellers in recovering payments for defective products or services.
Mr Kolade Alabi, the Executive Chairman of the Bariga Local Council Development Area, also applauded LASCOPA for bringing consumer rights protection to his jurisdiction and pledged his unwavering support to the agency.
Alabi further stated that he will ensure that the importance of consumer rights protection is communicated to the people of Bariga LCDA as well as his colleagues in other LCDAs and Local Governments.
