The people of Lakowe in the Ibeju-Lekki local government area of Lagos State have emphasized their support and willingness to work with the Lagos State in actualising its T.H.E.M.E.S development agenda and elevating the status of the state among others across the world.

The Provost, Lagos State Cooperative College, Agege, Akorede Ojomu, stated this in his address delivered on behalf of the people of Lakowe at the Coronation ceremony of His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdul-Hakeem Ojomu, the Oba of Lakowe, Iwerekun Land in Lagos State.

Ojomu equally expressed gratitude and appreciation to the Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the elevation of the traditional stool of the town to the status of a king that gives Lakowe Town the recognition it truly deserves.

According to him, the elevation of the traditional and royal stool by the Lagos State Government is a thing of great pride and joy to all Lakowe sons, daughters and residents, who can now begin to live in the consciousness that Lakowe town now ranks and belongs to the comity and class of elite towns in the State.

He said, “Let me also seize this opportunity to express our profound gratitude and appreciation to the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs, the Lagos State Government, and particularly, the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, who deemed it appropriate, to heed our call for the elevation in status of our traditional stool and by extension, Lakowe town”.

“Together, with your T.H.E.M.E.S agenda, we shall raise Lagos to the next enviable level amongst cities of the world”, Ojomu added.

He stated further that the crowning of Oba Abdul-Hakeem Ojomu in Lakowe would no doubt help to further foster peace, unity and development of the community.

He said, “The ascension to this enviable throne by His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdul-Hakeem Ojomu, no doubt, provides him with a bigger opportunity to continue to be of service to humanity that he has been passionately committed to.

“This will also ensure the acceleration of developments that will lead to prosperity and success of the land and people of Lakowe Community and the State at large”.
